Anima Mundi is an interactive installation developed as Dotdotdot's interpretation of Geely's Technological Renaissance campaign. Rather than placing the human at the centre – as Renaissance anthropocentrism would have it – the work extends the invitation to the entire cosmogony: people, nature, living and non-living beings become co-authors of a shared generative space. The result is a living ecosystem in constant mutation, never repeating itself, shaped by the simultaneous presence of human and non-human forces.

The sonic core is a musical score composed by musicians and interpreted through a parametric algorithm, resonating across different registers and timbres through the hundreds of pipes of the hall's nineteenth-century organ — an analogue instrument repurposed as the voice of a contemporary system.

Visuals unfold across five large semi-transparent veils arranged as Renaissance-inspired theatrical wings. Each veil hosts one of five generative environments — air, earth, water, untouched nature, urban — populated by agents that shift between particle-like abstraction and legible form depending on system state. The translucency of the veils allows the flocking to visually overflow its frames and inhabit the entire space.

At the core of the installation is a data-driven generative engine built in TouchDesigner, designed to be both highly efficient and entirely non-deterministic. The system ingests two live data streams: an IR camera tracking – infrared cameras map visitor presence and movement in real time, feeding positional and behavioural data into the generative engine, and Weather API (live environmental data as wind, temperature, atmospheric pressure) acts as a second layer of non-human agency, continuously modulating the system's behaviour

These inputs drive a generative flocking simulation: a system of agents that propagates from the centre of the space, responding to human movement and atmospheric conditions simultaneously. A dedicated digital layer traces the flocking trajectories and translates the particle behaviour into sharp, readable imagery — making visible what would otherwise remain imperceptible.
The architecture is fully real-time and stateless: there are no pre-rendered sequences. Every state the installation inhabits is computed live from the data generated by its agents — human and otherwise.
